About Me

Hi! I’m Monica Hernandez, a mom of two young (very active) boys and a stepmom to three amazing young adults. My husband Pau and I live in the Twin Cities, and we moved to Minnesota in 2021 from San Francisco, California. We’ve fallen in love with everything this state has to offer — especially the lakes, nature, and family-friendly getaways up north.

We first discovered Grand View Lodge in 2023 when two of my close friends and I rented a beautiful 6-room Garden Cottage for a family getaway. At the time, each of us had two young kids, and we instantly fell in love with the Grand View Lodge experience — the comfortable, modern homes, amazing restaurants, and the indoor pool with slides that our kids couldn’t get enough of. It was such a special trip that we made it a tradition and have returned every year since.

In 2025, during my second visit that year, I discovered that Unit 179 was for sale. Honestly, I had no intention of buying anything — I just signed up for a tour out of curiosity. But the moment I walked through the door, my jaw dropped. I could tell right away this home was special.

It was one of the first units ever built at GVL, and it had that true lodge feel I’ve always loved — cozy, warm, surrounded by trees and greenery. It felt like being deep in the woods, fully immersed in nature. 

My husband and I decided to purchase this property not only as a financial investment, but as an emotional one — a place that would shape my kids’ childhood memories and offer countless opportunities for connection. A home to share with friends, family, and guests who love Grand View Lodge as much as we do.
